Every event in the Sea to Sky has the same backdrop: mountains, forest, water. A wood-fired sauna adds the thing guests talk about on the drive home.
Weddings
The wedding day itself is busy, so most couples book the sauna for the day before or the day after, when everyone's arrived and wants to relax.
- Welcome night: sauna and cold plunge as guests arrive, before the rehearsal dinner.
- Recovery day: the morning after, with coffee and a slow brunch between rounds. There's no better hangover cure for the wedding party.
- The wedding party: a private session for the couple and their closest people, away from the crowds.
Matching sauna hats with names and the date make great favours. Sauna Hats Canada does custom embroidered hats.
Retreats
Yoga, wellness, writing and creative retreats are made for a sauna. Heat, cold and rest fit naturally into a retreat schedule, and a week-long booking ($1,500) means it's there every day.
- Morning sauna before breakfast.
- Afternoon rounds between sessions.
- An evening sauna to close the day.
Team offsites
A sauna does more for team bonding than any trust fall. Rounds in the heat, a cold plunge everyone dares each other into, and conversations that wouldn't happen in a meeting room. It works well paired with a hike, a paddle, or a day on the mountain.
Family reunions and big birthdays
Multi-generational, low-key, something for everyone. Grandparents take the lower bench, cousins race to the cold plunge. With a 24-hour booking, everyone gets a turn.
Planning tips
- Book early. Summer weekends and the holidays fill up.
- Check the venue. Get the property owner's OK, and tell us about access and flat space in your request. Glenn confirms every location before booking.
- Think about flow. The sauna fits about 8 at a time, so plan rounds for bigger groups.
- Add the extras. Towel and robe kits, extra firewood, a fire pit and a tent are all available as add-ons.
- Keep it safe. Have water on hand, keep alcohol for after the sauna, and keep an eye on guests who are new to heat and cold.
