A mobile sauna rental means a real wood-fired sauna shows up wherever you are, gets set up, and is yours for a full day. Here's exactly how it works with Mamquam Sauna.
What you get
- The original barrel sauna from the Mamquam River, restored by Glenn. Wood-fired, reaching up to about 90°C.
- Room for about 8 people.
- A cold plunge tub, set up next to the sauna.
- Firewood for your session.
- Delivery and setup anywhere in Squamish, Whistler or Pemberton.
- A private 24-hour window. No strangers, no timeslots.
Optional add-ons include extra firewood bundles, towel and robe kits, sauna hats, a fire pit, a tent and an essential oil setup.
What it costs
$325 for 24 hours, or $1,500 for a week. For a group of 8, a single day works out to around $40 a person, less than a lot of spa day passes, and you get the sauna to yourselves.
Where it can go
There's no fixed spot. The sauna comes to you, as long as it can be delivered and you have permission to set it up there. Common setups:
- your own backyard, driveway or acreage,
- a cabin, chalet or vacation rental (with your host's OK),
- a private property for a party, retreat or celebration.
Tell us where you'd like it in your booking request. Glenn reviews every request and confirms the location works before anything is locked in. Helpful details to include: the address or area, what the access is like (driveway, gravel, slope), and roughly how much flat space there is.
How booking works
- Send a request. Pick your dates and any add-ons. Nothing is charged to send it, and you can include questions.
- Your dates are held for 48 hours while Glenn reviews the request.
- Pay a $100 deposit through the email link once it's approved. That confirms the booking.
- Pay the balance through a payment link sent three days before your session.
On the day
- Delivery and setup. The sauna and plunge tub arrive and are set up for you.
- Light the fire. A wood-fired sauna takes a while to come up to temperature, so get it going early.
- Heat, cold, rest, repeat. 10–15 minutes in the heat, a short cold plunge, a rest, then go again.
- Use the whole 24 hours. Do an evening session and a morning one.
What to bring
- Swimwear, plus a robe or warm layers for between rounds.
- Sandals for the walk between sauna, plunge and house.
- Plenty of water.
- A felt sauna hat, to keep your head comfortable in the heat (or add one to your booking).
Safety basics
- Drink water before, during and after. Save the alcohol for after.
- If you're pregnant or have a heart condition or blood pressure issues, check with your doctor first.
- Get out if you feel dizzy or unwell, and never sauna or plunge alone.
- Keep the fire contained and the area around the stove clear.
